Get Involved in the Gateway Rain Garden Restoration Project Thursday, March 7, 2024 The significance of rain gardens in sustainable landscaping cannot be overstated—they are pivotal in absorbing storm water runoff, preventing soil erosion, and fostering habitats for various species. However, these natural beauties require regular care to remain functional and visually appealing. That’s why we’re calling for enthusiastic volunteers to join our mission in revitalizing the rain gardens situated at the Gateway boardwalk, a key entrance area to Brownsburg. These specially designed areas utilize select vegetation to purify rainwater prior to its reintegration with our water bodies. Your participation is key to conserving these essential ecosystems.
Event Details:
What You’ll Do: Participants will collaborate with our dedicated team to remove any dead vegetation and debris, maintaining the pristine condition and efficiency of the rain gardens. The event is scheduled from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, with parking available at Walmart (400 W Northfield Dr, Brownsburg, IN 46112).
What to Expect: No previous gardening experience is required—just a zeal to contribute positively! We will provide the essential equipment such as rakes, loppers, nitrate gloves, and safety eyewear. Volunteers are advised to bring along water bottles and gardening gloves, and wear protective gear including sturdy shoes and long pants; long-sleeved shirts are recommended. Guidance and practical advice will be readily available from our team of seasoned volunteers.
